3-DAY KIGALI TO BWINDI GORILLA SAFARI

This 3-day trip is the fastest way to reach Uganda’s gorillas from Kigali — designed for travellers who want maximum impact in minimum time. You’ll cross from Rwanda into Uganda, arrive in the Bwindi region the same day, then enjoy the unforgettable gorilla tracking experience before returning to Kigali with the option to include a meaningful stop at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 —
Arrival in Kigali → border crossing → transfer to Bwindi

Overnight: Silverback Lodge or Mahogany Springs Lodge (Bwindi)

A Weismann representative will pick you up from Kigali International Airport and begin the journey toward Uganda via Kigali city and the Katuna border. After border clearance, you’ll stop at Cepha’s Inn Hotel for lunch, then continue toward Bwindi via Kabale–Ntungamo road connecting to Rukungiri, Kihihi and finally Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The route takes you through the communities of the Bakiga people in southwestern Uganda, with changing landscapes as you approach the forest.

Day 2 —
Gorilla tracking experience (Bwindi)

Overnight: Silverback Lodge
or Mahogany Springs Lodge (Bwindi)

After breakfast, get ready with your packed lunch and water for the gorilla trekking day. You’ll be driven about 10–20 minutes to the starting point, passing scenic rolling hills and terraced landscapes often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa”. After the briefing and group allocation, begin the trek into the forest — the trail may also reveal other primates before you reach the gorillas. Enjoy your one-hour encounter with the gorillas, then walk back to the starting point to receive your tracking certificate. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and a calm evening to rest and reflect.

Day 3 —
Return to Kigali
(optional memorial visit)

Overnight: Lodge in/near Kibale

After an early breakfast, begin the return journey to Kigali International Airport (about 5½ hours). If timing allows, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial before continuing to the airport for your flight home.
