Arrive at Entebbe and meet a Weismann Safaris & Expeditions representative for a quick transfer to Protea Hotel (very close to the airport). Depending on your arrival time, settle in, choose your meal plan, and go over the next day’s schedule with your driver/guide so the trip starts smoothly.
After breakfast, travel to Murchison Falls National Park — Uganda’s largest park and home to the country’s most powerful waterfall. Stop for lunch in Masindi, then continue to the park. Along the way you may spot birds and wildlife before arriving for dinner and a peaceful evening at your lodge.
Start with a morning game drive toward the Albert and Victoria Nile areas, looking for elephants, giraffes, antelopes, Uganda kob, buffaloes, waterbucks, lions and rich birdlife. After lunch, enjoy the classic 3-hour launch cruise from Paraa to the base of the falls — a highlight for hippos, crocodiles and river birds (often including African fish eagles), with occasional elephants along the banks.
After breakfast, begin the journey from Murchison to Kibale via Masindi–Hoima–Fort Portal. Stop for lunch in Fort Portal (Gardens Restaurant is mentioned), then continue to Kibale. It’s a long transfer day, but the scenery changes constantly — from savannah to fertile countryside and forest edges — before arriving for dinner and rest.
Early start for a briefing at Kanyanchu and chimpanzee tracking (typically 2–4 hours). Beyond chimps, you may encounter other primates (such as L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and baboons) and plenty of birdlife. After the experience, receive your tracking certificate and return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon.
Day 6 —
Kibale → Bwindi
(Mahogany Springs Lodge
or Silverback Lodge)
Overnight: Mahogany Springs Lodge
or Silverback Lodge (Bwindi area)
Day 7 — Gorilla tracking (Bwindi)
Overnight: Lodge in Bwindi
Day 8 —
Transfer to Kihihi airfield →
Flight to Entebbe (departure)
End of trip
After breakfast, drive to Bwindi. The route crosses Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kazinga Channel area, so this transfer often feels like a “moving safari” with chances to see elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hippos and antelopes along the way. Arrive in Bwindi in time to settle in and prepare for gorilla tracking.
After an early breakfast, head to the park gate for a briefing, then enter the forest to track mountain gorillas. Trek duration varies depending on the gorillas’ location, but the reward is extraordinary: one unforgettable hour in their presence. After receiving your tracking certificate, return to the lodge for lunch and a calm evening.
After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi airfield for your domestic flight back to Entebbe, connecting with your onward international travel. This is the most time-efficient way to finish the journey after the southwest parks.
